Web operators charged with selling steroids
October 27, 2006
A Tinley Park-based Web site illegally sold steroids and other prescription drugs over the Internet after the substances were smuggled into the U.S. from Mexico, federal authorities charged Thursday.
Larry Calow of Tinley Park and his brother Gary Calow of Metepec, Mexico, started the Web site, pmeds.com, along with Ricky Boros of Oak Brook, authorities said.
The group took drug orders from Larry Calow's residence and forwarded them to Mexico, where they were filled and smuggled into the U.S., a criminal complaint said.
Larry Calow's daughter, Beth Calow of Hobart, Ind., and Randy Soderlund of Tinley Park were charged with processing orders.
Beth Calow, Soderlund and Boros appeared in court Thursday afternoon and were scheduled to be released on bail.
Larry Calow did not appear in court because he was being treated for a medical condition, his attorney said.
