Steroids seized at Prague airport
Prague- Customs officers discovered thousands of tablets of steroids at the Prague-Ruzyne airport on Thursday, hidden in a parcel which was supposed to contain a thermo pot, the Prague customs authority told CTK today.
The parcel was sent from Thailand to a Czech address.
The parcel contained 14,00 tablets of Cetabon, Provironum and Bonavar.
Steroids are only available at medical prescription. Neither their import, nor export nor distribution are regulated in the Czech Republic.
The relevant bill is being drafted and it is to be discussed by the government by mid-year.
When the substances are imported from outside the EU, customs officers can only intervene if they are not declared as steroids.
Steroids, used by athletes and often by body builders, can harm various bodily organs and cause infertility.
