A routine traffic stop by a Milam County deputy has landed a Fort Worth man in jail on drug possession charges.
The estimated street value of the drugs found is $8,500.
According to Milam County Sheriff Charlie West, deputy Kindale Pittman stopped a 2001 Ford F250 4x4 pickup on Highway 77, just south of the “Y” intersection near Cameron late Friday night.
The driver of the truck, 35-year-old Brian Everett Gray, was arrested after the search of his vehicle came up with significant amounts of narcotics.
West said that Pittman searched the vehicle because of an odor of burnt marijuana was present.
West added that the deputy found two zip lock bags containing a large amount of pink amphetamine tablets weighing over 50 grams and seized six vials of testosterone and nadrodone, more commonly known as steroids.
Numerous hypodermic needles and syringes along with other drug paraphernalia were also found in Gray's vehicle, according to reports.
A seizure affidavit is being prepared to also seize the vehicle.
Gray was transported to the Milam County jail and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver amphetamines and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance-testosterone.
Bonds were set at $10,000 for the felony and $5,000 on the misdemeanor.
Gray posted bond and was released the same day.
Assisting Deputy Pittman were sheriff's deputy Russell Abel and DPS troopers Michael Nix and Broderick Sims. Pittman also made another drug possession arrest on Sunday. He arrested Charles Byrd, 62, of Cameron, on charges of manufacturing and delivery of drugs. He was also held on public intoxication charges. He remains in Milam County Jail as of Tuesday with bonds set at $50,000.
