A hot topic in the national news has spilled into a Central Coast neighborhood, when a shipment of anabolic steroids is uncovered in the City of Grover Beach.
Grover Beach police officers teamed up with federal officers to arrest a Grover Beach man for accepting steroids sent to him from Mexico.
United States Customs Enforcement officers found the steroids inside a package en rout to Grover Beach. The suspicious package was put through an x-ray machine last week, and is how investigators found four bottles of the steroid Laurabolin.
They were hidden inside a hollowed-out audio video converter box. Then, with the help of a US Postal inspector, the package was delivered on Wednesday to the Grover Beach home it was addressed to. That is where Greg Woolworth accepted it, and where authorities arrested the 45-year-old man.
I think that it's probably not the first time that it's gone through, it's probably the first time it's actually been caught," says Lt. Cheryl Locarnini, of Grover Beach Police Department.
Authorities also searched Woolworth's home, where they found another type of steroid, Cocaine, as well as numerous knives, and a rifle.
Woolworth was booked into County jail for possession of a controlled substance and a probation violation. Investigators are still unsure if he intended to use the steroids for himself or to sell them. They say that they know Woolworth does workout on a daily basis.
San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Detectives say there's generally one steroid bust per year.
