A man has been charged with trying to import a large amount of steroids and human growth hormones into Australia after a Customs search at Brisbane International Airport.
The man's luggage was searched on Friday night after he arrived on a flight from New Zealand.
It is alleged Customs officers found about 30 vials of steroids, 20 vials of human growth hormone and about 100 tablets that are yet to be formally identified.
The 28-year-old appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court yesterday charged with importing a prohibited import.
He was granted conditional bail and is due to face court again early next month.
The maximum penalty for importing performance and image enhancing drugs is a $110,000 fine as well as up to five years in prison.
Customs say they are still investigating the matter.
