Thursday, November 30, 2006

A Florissant, Mo., man pleaded guilty Wednesday to felony possession of anabolic steroids and a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated in Cape Girardeau County circuit court.

Jason O. Stevens, 35, of

30 Marquette Drive
, was arrested by Missouri State Highway Patrol on April 21 on U.S. 61 and subsequently charged with class C felony of possession of a controlled substance and class B misdemeanor of driving while intoxicated.

Stevens faces penalties of up to seven years in prison for the felony charge and six months in the county jail and a $500 fine for the misdemeanor.

The arresting trooper discovered the anabolic steroids after citing Stevens for the DWI, according the probable-cause statement.

The statement indicated Stevens has one prior alcohol-related conviction from 2002.

Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney Morley Swingle said he did not recall anyone else being convicted of this type of charge in the county.
