Florissant man pleads guilty to felony possession of anabolic steroids

A Florissant, Mo., man pleaded guilty Wednesday to felony possession of anabolic steroids and a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated in Cape Girardeau County circuit court.
Jason O. Stevens, 35, of 30 Marquette Drive, was arrested by Missouri State Highway Patrol on April 21 on U.S. 61 and subsequently charged with class C felony of possession of a controlled substance and class B misdemeanor of driving while intoxicated.
Stevens faces penalties of up to seven years in prison for the felony charge and six months in the county jail and a $500 fine for the misdemeanor.
The arresting trooper discovered the anabolic steroids after citing Stevens for the DWI, according the probable-cause statement.
The statement indicated Stevens has one prior alcohol-related conviction from 2002.
Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney Morley Swingle said he did not recall anyone else being convicted of this type of charge in the county.
