What do Mary J. Blige, Tyler Perry, 50 Cent, Timbaland and Wyclef Jean all have in common? They are all entertainers who have been named in a steroid investigation. The Albany-based steroid investigation alleges that these entertainers may have received or used performance-enhancing drugs.
According to a published report, a number of other entertainers were also named in connection with the investigation, but they are not part of an ongoing criminal probe.
Many people are wondering why entertainers would need to use steroids. The answer is simple. Athletes use steroids and human growth hormones to enhance their performance capabilities and become bigger, stronger, and faster. However, entertainers are using the drugs for their anti-aging qualities.
As spokeswoman for Mary J. Blige, Karynne Tencer commented to The Daily News, "Blige has never taken any performance enhancing illegal steroids." Despite Tencer's statement, The Times Union newspaper is reporting that Blige did receive the human growth hormone Jentropin and Oxandrolone, an anabolic steroid, in an order sent to her at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
Other entertainers named in the investigation have yet to comment about the allegations
