Doctor pleads not guilty in steroid bust
7/27/2007
ALBANY, N.Y. -- A major development in connection with Albany County District Attorney David Soares' national steroid bust dubbed "Operation Which Doctor".
Florida Doctor Robert Carlson pleaded not guilty to 28 counts this morning in Albany County Court. Carlson is one of several defendants named in the sting and prosecutors say he was the ringleader behind all the phony steroid prescriptions written by Florida-based Signature Pharmacy.
"He was the paper mill. He provided all the prescriptions, didn't interview any of the patients," said Sean Childs, Albany County Assistant District Attorney.
Carlson had no comment and was released on $10,000 bail.
The investigation is centered around Florida-based Med-X-Life, where professional wrestler Chris Benoit was a customer. Benoit killed his wife and child before taking his own life last month.
