Customs seize steroid package at Melbourne Airport
March 31, 2006
Customs officers have seized more than half a kilogram of anabolic steroids after intercepting a suspicious package from China at Melbourne Airport.
The seizure led to a raid on a property at Doncaster East, where it is alleged more of the drug was found.
Customs investigator Richard Janeczko says a 23-year-old man has been interviewed and charges are expected to be laid.
"Customs takes this very seriously, so if you're going to import these sorts of goods, you should be aware that you could be imprisoned for five years and/or fined $100,000," he said.
