Charges Dropped Against Lafayette Officer Who was Fired in Connection with Steroid Investigation
May 24, 2006
Charges have been dropped against one of the Lafayette police officers fired after an investigation into steroid use.
The district attorney cleared Keith Richard on several charges, which included possession of illegal drugs and the possession of a stolen firearm.
In the meantime, the Lafayette Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Board voted to uphold his termination from the force.
Richard was fired last year after drug tests came back positive as part of an internal affairs investigation.
On a related note, the board unanimously voted to reinstate Trampus Gaspard.
Gaspard was fired at the same time as Richard for violating the Lafayette Consolidated Government drug testing policy.
