California man charged with distributing steroids

· NEW HAVEN, Conn. --A San Francisco man was indicted by a federal grand jury Wednesday on allegations he sold anabolic steroids over an Internet site to buyers across the country, including Connecticut.

Hiroshige Cranney, 24, was charged with one count of distributing anabolic steroids, which carries up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
The indictment by the grand jury in U.S. District Court in New Haven alleges that Cranney sold the steroids on http://www.sell.com. The steroids included dianabol, winstrol, deca-durabolin, anavar, testosterone, anadrol, and turanabol.
"The illegal distribution of anabolic steroids and other pharmaceuticals on the Internet poses a grave and increasing public health risk, and the federal government will vigorously prosecute this offense," U.S. Attorney Kevin O'Connor said.
