Former math teacher faces four felony counts for steroids

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. - A former high school teacher was in Chippewa County Circuit Court Tuesday after being charged on four felony counts of peddling anabolic steroids.
Greg Nerbovig, 61, of Eau Claire, faces three counts of selling steroids and one count of possession with intent to sell. Each count carries a sentence of up to six years in prison.
Drug agents raided Nerbovig's home on July 31 and found more than three kilograms of powdered steroids as well as dozens of loaded syringes and unused syringes, the complaint said.
According to the complaint, agents from the Wisconsin Department of Justice had been watching Nerbovig for more than four months and they used an informant to meet Nerbovig at his home to buy steroids.
The informant bought three different times from Nerbovig and Nerbovig wanted the informant to sell controlled substances for him, the complaint said.
"It's a pretty solid case from our point of view," said Roy Gay, Chippewa Falls assistant district attorney. "I think he had about 10 pounds of powder substance that tested positive for steroids and numerous other items that tested positive for steroids."
Nerbovig remains free on a $1,000 signature bond.
The former math teacher at Chippewa Falls High School retired in June after working over 30 years for the Chippewa Falls School District.
