NJ School Steroid Tests are Pricey
September 14, 2006
About five percent of the ten-thousand high school athletes who are in state tournaments in New Jersey this school year will be the first to take steroid tests.
The president of the testing company expects five to ten tests will come back positive.
The tests will take place after playoff games start.
Athletes are to be chosen at random.
Over the course of the school year, about 500 tests are to be administered at a cost of 175 dollars each. The bill will be divided between the state sports association and state government.
New Jersey is the first state to require steroid testing for some high school athletes.
