Don't wait for finals to test for steroids
I am all for the thought of steroid and other supplement tests in high school sports. I just believe that the tests should not just occur during the state finals of the sports.
I think they also should occur during the regular season so that a team without any steroid users could have a fair chance at getting to the finals.
I believe that the one-year ban from sports would still be appropriate in this situation also.
I believe that banning steroids is not enough but catching someone on steroids and seeing the consequences will put a dent in the steroid usage in high school.
Also, why does the refusal of a test have less a punishment than failing the test?
A person using steroids could just refuse the test and then play in another event or game the next month.
Why doesn't the refusal proposal have at least a couple-month ban instead of just getting kicked out of the one game?
The overall idea of steroid testing is great, but some things about the proposal are not fitting.
