Two Test Positive for Steroids on K-1 Card
August 17, 2007
The summer of steroids continues to roll along, the Nevada State Athletic Commission revealed Thursday, when the respected regulatory body announced K-1 kickboxing competitors Rickard Nordstrand and Zabit Samedov tested positive for illegal anabolics following their Aug. 11 bouts in Las Vegas.
Sweden's Nordstand, who lost in the K-1 Las Vegas quarterfinals, had both Boldenone and an elevated testosterone/epitestosterone level in his system. The NSAC T/E ratio threshold for a positive test is 6 ng/ml -- Nordstand, the smallest competitor in the field, had a T/E ratio of 21.5.
The 23-year-old Samedov fell in the finals to surprising tournament winner Doug Viney. Afterwards, it was revealed Samedov had traces of Stanozolol in his system.
The fighters have 45 days to respond to the NSAC complaint and file for an appeal. They both face fines and suspensions.
