Richmond coach Terry Wallace says the club is not embarrassed by Nathan Brown's comments that AFL players should be permitted to use steroids to recover from major injuries.
Brown told Melbourne's Triple M radio earlier this week players should be allowed to use steroids for rehabilitation purposes only and remain on the sidelines until the substance is flushed from their system, so as not to allow any form of physical advantage.
Wallace said he had spoken to Brown and suggested he research the issue better before making such comments.
He said Richmond did not support Brown's opinion.
"It's Nathan's opinion and we didn't really think it had any impact on our football club or our thoughts and opinions," he said.
Brown's comments follow his own recovery from a broken leg he suffered in round 10 in 2005, which ended his first season with the Tigers.
The sickening injury still affected Brown earlier this year and he has struggled to regain his best form in the 10 appearances he has made for the club this season.
