Steelers' Doctor Questioned In Steroids Investigation
February 27, 2007
On Tuesday, a report that surfaced said a doctor who works with the Pittsburgh Steelers was questioned in a steroids investigation.
A reporter with the Albany Times Union said Dr. Richard Rydze was questioned about $150,000 in steroids purchases on his personal credit card.
Brendan Lyons reported a New York state health department investigator, last month, flew to Pittsburgh as part of a wide-scale investigation into the online sale of steroids.
Lyons said investigators questioned Rydze about his alleged purchase of steroids and a human growth hormone.
Lyons said his sources in New York told him Rydze is not a target in the investigation, and in fact, New York authorities have no jurisdiction over him.
Team 4 left a message for Rydze's Downtown office, but he did not return our call.
Steelers President Art Rooney II said he doesn't know anything about the case.
Rydze isn't breaking any laws or rules by buying HGH and testosterone online. However, the NFL has a clear policy banning the use of testosterone by players.
