Sepeng won't appeal his ban
May 24, 2006
Hezekiel Sepeng, South Africa's former Olympic 800m silver medallist, says he will not appeal against his ban as it will cost him too much.
Athletics South Africa banned Sepeng for two years after he tested positive for the banned steroid Norandrosterone.
Sepeng says he is very unhappy and disappointed with the processes used to convict him of doping. "I was not informed in the right time, they took long to inform me about my results. My B sample was tested, which according to me was negative, but they say it was inconclusive because, I don't know why. I don't know why they say it is inconclusive. Maybe they want it to be positive. When they do their things, they done even give us reasons, they just tell us it is what we do. They didn't communicate."
Sepeng says he does not know how the banned substance got into his system or his samples.
