PBF Seeks Dope Free Bodybuilding in Pakistan, says Yahya

ISLAMABAD: In order to stop use of steroid and create awareness about harmful effect of prohibited medicines around the country, Pakistan Bodybuilding Federation (PBF) has announced to take dope test of top bodybuilders in the national events from next year.
Talking to media-men, President Pakistan Bodybuilding Federation Lieutenant Col (Retd) Muhammad Yahya said that there is enormous talent of bodybuilding in the country, added, youngster are adopting body building day by day in large number with full dedication and craziness.
The Federation is taking steps on priority basis for the promotion of bodybuilding but federation has limited resources while Pakistan Sports Trust (PST) and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) is playing a vital role to promote this game in the country, he maintained.
He said that Pakistan would participate in World Men’s Bodybuilding championship to be held in Korea next month and South Asian Body Building Championship at Maldives in March next year.
Col. Yahya told that in the past, the use of steroid was not a big problem but in the current scenario it is very vital to stop such habit among the builders. The federation is trying its level best to stop such practice and create awareness about its harmful effects among the players, he pointed out.
“In order to stop use of steroid and its elimination, the federation has decided to obtain dope test of top three position holder body builders ahead of national events starts from next year, adding that, only those players who will clear the dope test able to represent the country in the international events”, he added..
PBF president said that the federation would establish a nursery of talented players around the country, besides enhancing its credibility at International level. Our target is to clinch medal at Asian level during upcoming years, he hoped.
Giving details of the upcoming events, he said, Pakistan would participate in the world Men’s Bodybuilding Championship to be started in Korea next month. The trial to select players for championship will be held in first week of October at Lahore.
Mr Pakistan, Mr Junior Pakistan and Allama Iqbal Trophy will be organized in Peshawar in November, this year to be participated by more than 400 bodybuilders around the country, he asserted.
Muhammad Yahya said, Bodybuilding competition on the eve of death of anniversary of founder of Pakistan would be organized in major cities of the Country including Peshawar, Quetta, Lahore and Karachi. The events will be held at Provincial level according to Youth Development Programme.
There is no such plan according to which the federation can stop use of steroids and prohibited medicines however seminars will be organized at national level to create awareness and stop its use. He hoped that the corporate sectors and media will play their due role for promotion of game.
PBF president added that we are planning to organize competition between arch-rivals but at the moment we are on the initial stages.
Declaring Pakistan Amateur Bodybuilding Association Gild as unrecognized organization, Col. Yahya categorically stated that Pakistan Bodybuilding Federation is only recognized Federation from Pakistan Olympic Association (POA), Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) and other international bodies.
