ALBANY, N.Y. -- Two members of the NFL will be sidelined for the start of the upcoming season as a result of Albany County District Attorney David Soares' investigation into a Florida Pharmaceutical ring.
The NFL has suspended New England Patriots Safety Rodney Harrison and Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Coach Wade Wilson.
Harrison will sit out the first 4 games and Wilson will be inactive for 5.
In separate news conferences, each player admitted violating the league's substance abuse policy.
Harrison and Wilson, a former QB in the league, are two of the first members of the NFL to be tied to Soares investigation and bust of the Signature Pharmacy in Orlando, according to reports by the NFL network.
Representatives from Soares' office confirm they first met with the NFL back in March, but say that no information was revealed to the league.
The statement goes on to say that "since that initial meeting we have maintained an open line of communication and have established a mutually beneficial relationship as we both have aggressively pursued our own independent investigations."
Soares' went on to thank the NFL commissioner for his assistance as he continues to build a case against Signature Pharmacy.
