Mosley Will Testify In Steroid Trial
John Wisler of the San Antonio Times is reporting that Mosley is among the dozens of athletes, including Barry Bonds and Jason Giambi, who have been subpoenaed to testify before a federal grand jury investigating BALCO, a nutritional supplements company based near San Francisco.
Mosley's attorney, Judd Burstein, said Mosley "would be happy to testify" and that the newly crowned junior middleweight champ "took only legal nutritional supplements."
Burstein said his client visited the BALCO lab only once. He said Mosley has never taken steroids and, when tested by the Nevada State Athletic Commission within 30 minutes of the De La Hoya fight, Mosley "came out completely clean."
Marc Ratner, executive director of the Nevada commission, confirmed that both fighters tested "completely steroid free."
Nevada tests for 25 known anabolic steroids, Ratner said, but not the previously undetectable "designer steroid" at the center of the probe, tetrahydrogestrinone, or THG.
