Matthews Doesn't Give Specific Response To Report Of Steroid Use
TEMPE, Ariz. -- Los Angeles Angels outfielder Gary Matthews Junior wouldn't get specific when asked yesterday about a published report that says his name is listed as a customer of a steroid distribution network.
According to the Times Union of Albany, Matthews, former baseball player Jose Canseco and former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield are allegedly on a customer list for the two pharmacies in Orlando, Florida, that were raided Tuesday as part of a steroids distribution investigation.
When asked if he used performance-enhancing substances, Matthews said he hadn't read the story himself, didn't have all the information and wasn't in a position to answer specific questions. He added that he expects the matter to resolve itself in the near future.
