Doctor accused of writing steroid prescriptions to Panthers agrees to plead guilty
Court documents show Doctor James Shortt will plead guilty to a federal conspiracy count, in exchange for 42 similar counts being dropped. He'll face up to five years in prison.
A person familiar with the indictment said Shortt prescribed the drugs to current and former Carolina Panthers, bodybuilders and at least one police officer.
C-B-S' "60 Minutes" had identified the players as Panthers center Jeff Mitchell, tackle Todd Steussie (STOO'-see) and punter Todd Sauerbrun. Other former players had been named in various reports as Shortt's patients.
