Bulking up brings steroid lab down
8/28/07
STOW -- A 36-year-old Stow man, Anton Lamarr Bevington, faces charges he made steroids in his Stow townhouse and distributed them in the area.
"Mr. Bevington, you are here on a warrant complaint, trafficking in drugs, this being a felony of the second degree," Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Court Judge Lisa Coates told the defendant.
Bevington's trip to court started in March, when police say he sold steroids to an undercover agent. Police obtained a search warrant for his Stow townhouse and say they found an elaborate lab to make and sell steroids.
"They're obviously being distributed in his area. They're being manufactured here. They're being sold here, so it's a good thing to get them off the street," said Lt. Rick Myers of the Stow Police Department, who says the case is far from over. "There are additional arrests pending, there are additional charges on this person, and there will be forthcoming charges on others."
Neighbors saw their street filled with police cars Monday night.
"It's pretty surprising," says Wendy Erwin. "It's a very nice neighborhood, it's very family-oriented, kids are always playing, you see kids riding their bikes and stuff."
Records indicate, Bevington has a history of drug charges in his past, dating back to 2000. He faces two to eight years in prison for the current charges. He's currently in the Summit County jail on $100,000 bond.
