Chitosan is a supplement used to help reduce body fat by supposedly; limiting the amount of fat that is absorbed in our bodies (Blocking fat). It acts like a sponge that absorbs fat.
Chitosan is made from the shells of crustaceans such as shrimp, lobster, and crabs and is becoming a big topic of conversation. There has been little proof of the effectiveness of this product except for some studies done on small animals. Chitosan did show to help a small amount for them, but has not shown a great deal of success in humans.
Chitosan has been shown to help lower the level of blood fats and reduces the effects of bacteria in the intestines, but that doesn’t help with fat loss. Basically, researchers saw a way to make quick money by showing the benefits and marketed it without much human testing.
If you still want to try using Chitosan, it is recommended that you take 3-6 grams per day no more than one hour before your meals. This will give the Chitosan time to absorb fats and flush it out of the body. You should also take it with a minimum of 8 ounces of water to prevent constipation.
