Personal Trainer Busted Selling British Knights Steroids at Anytime Fitness Potts Point, Australia

Personal Trainer Busted Selling British Knights Steroids at Anytime Fitness Potts Point, Australia

The Kings Cross Local Area Command (LAC) of the New South Wales Police has made the trafficking of anabolic steroids a high priority in recent months. In April 2015, the Kings Cross LAC set up a special investigative unit called 'Strike Force Fortis' dedicated to cracking down on the illegal distribution of steroids and performance- and image-enhancing drugs (PIEDs)

James Blatch, a former competitive bodybuilder and fitness model who founded the personal training company 'The Muscle Makers', was arrested after a lengthy undercover investigation into steroid dealing at the Anytime Fitness Potts Point gym located in the Kings Cross suburb of Sydney on June 26, 2015 .

Blatch operated 'The Muscle Makers' out of the Anytime Fitness Potts Point location according to various news reports. His business catered to a group of individuals interested exclusively in improving their physical appearance rather than improving sports performance.

Blatch was quite active in social media and interacted regularly with the over 22,000 fans of The Muscle Makers Facebook page, 355 Twitter followers and 171 subscribers to the The MuscleMakers YouTube channel,

“James Blatch founded The Muscle Makers in 2009 because he was tired of PT's [sic] putting out program's [sic] that focused purely on measuring athletic performance and strength rather than focusing on a clients [sic] appearance.”

Blatch also allegedly used his business to market and promote steroid sales to his clients.

The NSW Police planted an undercover police operative as an Anytime Fitness gym member seeking a personal training consultation. While posing as a client, the undercover cop was able to arrange the purchase of several vials of injectable steroids from Blatch.

On May 28, 2015, the undercover operative purchased British Knight Pharmaceutical brand Testosterone 200 (testosterone cypionate) and Boldenone 300 (boldenone undecylenate) for a total price of $180 AUD ($138 USD).

On June 1, 2015, the undercover operative purchased the same three products.

And on June 10, 2015, a third controlled purchase witnessed Blatch sell two vials of Testosterone 200 (testosterone cypionate), two vials of Testosterone 250 (testosterone enanthate) and one vial of a product labeled “Andropov steroids” for the price of $900. The undercover officer followed Blatch to his home in Sutherland where he was able to purchase another $6000 AUD ($4600 USD) worth of steorids.

British Knights Pharmaceutical is a local domestic-based underground laboratory (UGL) in Australia. Blatch was busted with a large quantity of British Knight products n his possession. The media did not report whether Blatch was merely an authorized reseller of British Knight UGL steroid products or if he was in fact the manufacturer of the underground lab label.

The steroid sales were bad enough for Blatch. He was charged with 16 counts of supplying a commercial quantity of a prohibited drug, supplying drugs on an ongoing basis and multiple counts of supplying illegal drugs. To make matters worse, one of those charges involved supplying a commercial quantity of GHB (one liter).

Blatch was forced to spend the weekend in jail after a Parramatta Bail Court judge denied bail to Blatch. His next scheduled court appearance at the Central Local Court is on June 30, 2015.
