NPC Physique Competitor and Washington County Sheriff Deputy Bryce Kampwerth Receives Probation on Steroid Charge
Washington County Sheriff deputy Bryce Kampwerth has been sentenced to to 1-1/2 years of probation in Washington County Circuit Court on December 28, 2017. The sentence is the result of a criminal conviction for possession of a controlled substance (anabolic steroids). The probationary sentence will likely hamper his success as a Men’s Physique Competitor.
As a specific condition of Kampwerth’s sentence, the sentencing judge specifically prohibited the bodybuilder from using any type of anabolic steroids. Kampwerth will be subjected to periodic drug testing (specifically for various anabolic steroids) to ensure that the bodybuilding cop is complying with the terms of his probation.
Obviously, the use of anabolic steroids is practically a prerequisite for top amateur bodybuilders and other physique competitors who want to have any chance of winning a competition sanctioned by the National Physique Committee (NPC). The 33-year old Kampwerth has previously competed in several NPC contests including the 2016 NPC Northwest Championships, the 2016 NPC Battle for the Eagle and the 2016 NPC Pacific Coast Championship.
Kampwerth’s only chance of using steroids as a physique competitor will be possible if he obtains the written permission to use anabolic steroids from a physician or other licensed medical professional. It is possible that Kampwerth could find a longevity or men’s health doctor who would be willing to prescribe a generous weekly dose of testosterone as part of a hormone replacement therapy (HRT) protocol. However, HRT dosages can’t compare to the quantities and dosages of steroids and ancillary drugs typically used by most competitive physique athletes.
Kampwerth has been employed by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) since January 2014, The WCSO placed Kampwerth on paid administrative leave after he was indicted by a Washington County grand jury and subsequently arrested by Beaverton Police on December 18, 2017. Kampwerth’s status was changed to unpaid administrative leave following sentencing and pending the results of an internal investigation.
In addition to being a police officer, Kampwerth is also an ISAA-certified personal trainer who owns and operates an internet-based meal planning business called KampBfit. Kampwerth promotes his business via social media such as Instagram as well as via the website kampbfit.com.
