The side effects of Proviron, while adverse reactions are possible this truly represents one of the most well-tolerated anabolic steroids for the adult male. We will find many of the traditional negative effects associated with anabolic steroid use are impossible with this steroid. We will also find an issue that commonly surrounds oral steroids to be non-existent as well. However, once again possible side effects of Proviron most certainly exist, but safe and effective use is more than possible. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the possible side effects of Proviron and in doing so ensure safe supplementation.
Estrogenic side effects of Proviron do not exist. This anabolic steroid does not aromatize and is not a progestin making gynecomastia and excess water retention impossible. This will also reduce the probability of high blood pressure. High blood pressure is still possible, but it is unlikely for most men. The number one cause of high blood pressure among steroid users is heavy water retention, which is again impossible with this steroid. As a bonus, Proviron is actually anti-estrogenic in that it can inhibit the testosterone to estrogen conversion or at least significantly reduce it. In some stacks and cycles it could eliminate the need for a traditional anti-estrogen medication or at least reduce its total need.
The possible androgenic side effects of Proviron include acne, hair loss and body hair growth. The androgenic side effects of Proviron are highly dependent on genetic predispositions; however, those who are predisposed will find sensitivity levels to be greater with this steroid than many others. However, it’s important to keep in mind if you are not predisposed such side effects of Proviron are impossible. If you are not predisposed to male pattern baldness hair loss will be impossible. If you are predisposed, while you’re going to lose your hair at some point no matter what you do the use of this steroid may speed up the rate of loss. The predisposition factor will also dictate the outcome as it pertains to acne and body hair growth. Important note – the 5-alpha reductase enzyme does not metabolize the Mesterolone hormone; there is no reduction to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), it’s already DHT. As a result, 5-alpha reductase inhibitors like Finasteride will not reduce or affect this steroid’s androgenicity and will offer no protection against androgenic effects. As it is significantly androgenic, the side effects of Proviron can include virilization in women; in fact, this anabolic steroid can promote such symptoms heavily. Virilization symptoms include body hair growth, a deepening of the vocal chords and clitoral enlargement. Virilization will be nearly impossible to avoid with this steroid and cannot be recommended to women.
The cardiovascular side effects of Proviron are without question the most concerning as it pertains to this anabolic steroid. Baring any underlying issue, most men should not have an issue with blood pressure; however, despite the unlikelihood it’s always a good idea to keep an eye on it. Where the cardiovascular side effects of Proviron may prove problematic is with cholesterol; in fact, this steroid can be very harsh on cholesterol. If you have high cholesterol you must not supplement with this anabolic steroid. Data has shown the Mesterolone hormone can have a strong negative impact on cholesterol, both HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol) and LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol). Studies have shown the use of this steroid has the ability to suppress HDL cholesterol upwards of 30% and beyond, as well as increase LDL levels by more than 60%. This represents a massive negative change in lipid values, and while it can be managed it will take an effort. If healthy cholesterol is to be maintained, the following tips and rules must be followed:
The side effects of Proviron will include the suppression of natural testosterone production, but it’s not as cut and dry compared to many steroids. The use of anabolic steroids, any anabolic steroid will suppress natural production; however, the rate of suppression varies greatly from one steroid to the next. In the case of Mesterolone, the total rate of suppression can be so minimal it can be insignificant. With standard Proviron doses, which normally fall in the 50-150mg per day range, the total suppression of natural testosterone production should be minimal of relatively no concern. When the dose surpasses the 150mg mark this will create a greater level of suppression, but there is no reason for any man to need a dose greater than 150mg per day. In theory, assuming your natural testosterone levels are in the high end optimal range, the individual could implement a cycle of Proviron and a moderate suppressive steroid at a low dose such as Anavar and forgo the need of exogenous testosterone supplementation. However, the Anavar dose would need to be very low and natural levels very high. Most men will still need exogenous testosterone, especially when we consider standard anabolic steroid cycles.
There are no liver related side effects of Proviron as this is not a hepatotoxic anabolic steroid. This is one of the only oral steroids on the market that is not C17-alpha alkylated (C17-aa) and as a result, liver damage or stress will be non-existent.
